As 2013 cars hit track, Dodge isn't ready for test

Dodge's 2013 Charger has been approved, but the first test of the next-generation model since NASCAR's final go-ahead will occur without the manufacturer.

A Goodyear tire test Tuesday and Wednesday at Martinsville Speedway will draw next year's models of the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Chevrolet SS, but the Charger will be missing because Dodge doesn't have a team to field it.

"Due to the lack of time to prepare for the on-track test for the 2013 cars scheduled next week at Martinsville, we have elected to forgo that test opportunity," said Beth Paretta, director of marketing and operations for SRT Brand and Motorsports.

Through Penske Racing, Dodge participated in a late January test of an early version of the 2013 car at Homestead-Miami Speedway. But Penske Racing announced March 1 that it was switching to Ford next season, and the team stopped development of next year's Charger.

Dodge hasn't announced any replacements for Penske next year, though NASCAR approved its 2013 Charger along with the other three manufacturer's models Monday.

That officially kicked off the process of producing and distributing parts and pieces to Sprint Cup teams, and next week's test at Martinsville will experiment with lightening the cars to reduce the stress on the right front, allowing Goodyear to build a tire with more grip that could enhance the racing.

ECU Remaps recently remapped 2 identical Range Rover Evoques which had 500 miles on the clock each and were unmodified. Both vehicles were identical with matching quoted factory power figures of 150PS, one vehicle showed 158PS on the dyno and the other 146PS proving that there’s no guarantee of the original factory state of tune of your vehicle.
